Cippico Castle

Cippico Castle is a historic fortress located in Kaštel Novi, a town within the administrative area of Kaštela in the Dalmatia region of Croatia. Constructed in 1512, the structure was commissioned by Pavao Antun Cippico, a prominent nobleman from the nearby city of Trogir. Originally designed as a fortified summer residence, the castle features distinctive architectural elements such as inclined ground-floor walls intended for defense. The complex also included an adjoining fortified village created to house laborers who worked in the fields below Mount Kozjak, reflecting the estate's dual role as both a private retreat and an agricultural hub during the early sixteenth century.

The site holds significant historical value as a representation of noble life and defensive architecture in Renaissance-era Dalmatia. After centuries of use and potential decline, the castle has undergone extensive restoration efforts to preserve its structural integrity and historical character. Today, it stands in good condition and has been repurposed as a vibrant cultural venue for the local community.
