Libohovë Castle

Libohovë Castle is located in Libohovë, southern Albania. The castle was built between 1741 and 1822 by Ali Pasha of Ioannina, and its architectural style is characteristic of the Ottoman era. It is believed that the castle was constructed on the ruins of another structure, and it was originally built as a wedding gift for Ali Pasha's sister, Shanish.

The castle holds historical significance as a testament to the region's Ottoman past and its association with Ali Pasha of Ioannina, a notable figure in Albanian history. Unfortunately, the castle is currently in a state of ruin, although its walls still stand tall. The inner area of the castle, which once served as a feudal residence, is now empty.

Visitors can explore the castle's remains and learn about its fascinating past, including the story of Shanish, who lived in the castle until her death, and whose grave is located near the city of Libohova.
