Gisselfeld

Gisselfeld is a historic manor house and estate located in Faxe Municipality, Denmark, situated between the towns of Haslev and Næstved. Recognized as the fifth-largest estate in the country, it encompasses 3,850 hectares of land, including significant forest areas. The main building was completed in 1575 and features distinctive Renaissance architecture characterized by three storeys, stepped gables, loopholes, and a projecting tower over the main gate. The grounds are surrounded by a moat and include well-maintained parks, lakes, waterfalls, gardens, and a greenhouse.

The site holds considerable historical significance, originally functioning as a monastery before becoming a private estate. It was first mentioned in the late 14th century under the ownership of Bo Falk and later passed to the Gøye family in 1450. Today, the property remains a prominent landmark with diverse features, including a modern 45-meter-tall hyperboloid tower used for recreational purposes within its forests. The estate combines centuries of heritage with contemporary attractions, maintaining its status as a well-preserved cultural and natural destination in Denmark.
