Ooidonk Castle

Ooidonk Castle is located in the city of Deinze, East Flanders, Belgium, and has been the residence of the Count t'Kint de Roodenbeke family. The castle was first built in the 13th century to defend the city of Ghent and the river Leie. It has undergone several transformations and restorations over the centuries, with the current structure being rebuilt in the Renaissance style by Martin della Faille in the 16th century.

The castle has significant historical importance, having been involved in various events throughout history, including the French Wars of Religion and the rule of the Holy Roman Emperor. It was destroyed twice, in 1491 and 1579, but was rebuilt and restored each time. In 1864, the castle was acquired by Henri t'Kint de Rodenbeke, who became President of the Senate and Minister of State. He restored and transformed the castle, which is now the private property of Count Henry t'Kint de Roodenbeke.

Today, Ooidonk Castle is a protected landmark and is open to the public from April 1 to September 15. The park, which features a French garden, can be visited year-round. The castle is a notable example of Hispano-Flemish style architecture and is one of the many castles in Belgium that showcases the country's rich history and cultural heritage.
