Häckeberga Castle

Häckeberga Castle, known locally as Häckeberga slott, is a historic mansion situated within the Lund Municipality in Scania, Sweden. The estate occupies a unique geographical position on one of the seven islets found in Lake Häckebergasjön. While the property's history extends back to the 14th century, the current manor house was constructed much later between 1873 and 1875. The building was commissioned by Tönnes Wrangel von Brehmer and designed according to drawings by the prominent architect Helgo Zettervall. It stands as a fine example of French Renaissance architecture, distinguishing it from many other regional structures with its specific stylistic elements and grand design.

The castle has evolved significantly over time to serve modern purposes while maintaining its historical charm. As of 2022, the facility operates as a boutique hotel, offering guests an immersive historical experience. It also houses a restaurant led by a former Michelin-star chef and provides extensive conference facilities for business events. The site has occasionally served other commercial roles, such as housing warehouse barrels for Mackmyra Whisky. Today, the castle is open to the public, allowing visitors to explore its grounds and appreciate the blend of medieval estate origins and 19th-century architectural renewal. Its continued operation as a hospitality venue ensures the preservation of this significant landmark in southern Sweden.
