Desana Castle

Desana Castle, known locally as Castello di Desana, is a historic fortress situated in the town of Desana within the Piedmont region of Italy. While the exact year of its initial construction is not recorded, the earliest documented references date back to the 10th century. Originally erected likely by the bishops of Vercelli for defensive purposes, the structure has witnessed centuries of regional conflict and political change. Its strategic importance was highlighted during the early 14th century when it was destroyed in 1317 amidst fierce battles between the Marquisate of Montferrat and the Visconti of Milan.
