Castiglioncello Bandini

Castiglioncello Bandini is a small historic village located in the Tuscany region of central Italy, administratively serving as a frazione of the comune of Cinigiano within the province of Grosseto. Situated at an elevation of 606 meters, the settlement lies approximately 50 kilometers from Grosseto and 8 kilometers from Cinigiano along the provincial road connecting Monticello Amiata to Vallerona. The community is modest in size, with census data from the early 21st century recording a population of roughly 90 to 93 residents. Its strategic position in the Tuscan landscape has long defined its role as a local hub within the broader Maremma area.

The site holds significant historical value, having been ruled by the powerful Aldobrandeschi family during the Early Middle Ages before passing to the Piccolomini-Bandini lineage. The most prominent landmark is the old castle known as Castiglion del Torto, originally constructed by the Aldobrandeschi in the 13th century and historically referred to as Castiglioncello di Stribugliano due to its proximity to the village of Stribugliano.
