Bundi

Bundi is a historic city located in the Hadoti region of Rajasthan state in northwest India. Situated at an elevation of 268 meters, it serves as the administrative center for the Bundi district and operates under a Municipal Council. The city's name is widely believed to derive from Bunda Meena, a prominent chieftain from the 13th century. While the modern settlement was formally established in 1241 by Chauhan nobles who seized the territory from local Meena and Bhil tribes after their own defeats by Mohammed of Ghori, the area holds much older significance. Archaeological discoveries nearby include Stone Age artifacts dating back between 5,000 and 200,000 years, indicating human presence in the region since prehistoric times.

The city is renowned for its distinctive architectural heritage, most notably the Bundi Fort and Palace which dominate the skyline above the old town.
