Bhainsrorgarh Fort is an ancient and impregnable stronghold located in the Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan, India. Strategically positioned on a cliff between the confluence of the Chambal and Bamani rivers, it lies approximately 50 kilometers south of Kota and 235 kilometers northeast of Udaipur. While the surrounding region has been inhabited since at least the second century BC, the fort itself was originally constructed by a Baniya merchant named Bhainsa Sah and a Charan trader called Rora Charan to protect their caravans from bandits. The structure derives its unique name from the combination of these two founders' names. Over the centuries, it evolved into a critical fortified outpost for the kingdom of Mewar, serving as a seat for premier nobles of the Sisodia dynasty.

The fort holds profound historical significance within the Rajput lineage, particularly for the Chundawat clan of Sisodia Rajputs. In 1741 AD, Maharana Jagat Singh II granted the estate as a jagir to Rawat Lal Singh, solidifying its status among the sixteen first-class nobles of Mewar. Its legacy is intertwined with tales of royal sacrifice, including its connection to Rao Chunda, who famously renounced his claim to the Mewar throne. The site has witnessed turbulent history, having been briefly held by Turkic forces before being recaptured around 1330 AD by Banbir during the reign of Rana Hamir. It also played a role in the legendary exploits of Kunwar Shakti Singh, who aided his brother, the famed Rana Pratap.

Today, Bhainsrorgarh stands as a major tourist destination, celebrated for its dramatic riverside setting and well-preserved architecture. The complex features five historic water tanks, temples dedicated to Devi Bhim Chauri, Shiva, and Ganesh, alongside a grand palace. Unlike many ruins, the fort remains in excellent condition and has been adaptively reused; the palace is currently available for rent, offering visitors a chance to stay within this living monument. This blend of active habitation and historical preservation allows guests to experience the grandeur of Rajputana heritage firsthand while enjoying the serene natural beauty of the river valley.
