The comune has a population of 884 residents and encompasses an area of 45.5 square kilometers. The municipality is subdivided into three frazioni, or administrative subdivisions: Prato, Sant'Anna, and Tornadù. The settlement borders nine surrounding municipalities including Sondrio, Chiesa in Valmalenco, and Berbenno di Valtellina.
