Rodoni Castle, also known as Skanderbeg Castle, is located on the Cape of Rodon in Durrës, Albania. Constructed in 1450 under the direction of national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, it was built to strengthen defenses against Ottoman expansion following the First Siege of Krujë. The fortress featured walls spanning approximately 400 meters, forming a strategic coastal stronghold for the League of Lezhë during Albania’s resistance efforts.

The castle played a critical role during the Siege of Krujë (1466–67), serving as Skanderbeg’s refuge before his evacuation to Brindisi via 14 ships. Though destroyed by Ottoman forces in 1467, the Republic of Venice rebuilt it in 1500. Today, it stands as a ruin with sections of its walls eroded and submerged by the Adriatic Sea, yet it remains open to the public. Its enduring legacy as a symbol of Albanian resilience and Skanderbeg’s military campaigns continues to draw historical interest, preserving a tangible link to the region’s medieval conflicts and cultural heritage.
