The Rocca di Mondavio, also known as the Rocca Roveresca, is a well-preserved 15th-century castle located in the town of Mondavio within the Marche region of Italy. Commissioned around 1492 by Giovanni Della Rovere, the Lord of Senigallia, the structure was designed by the renowned architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Distinguished by its unique architectural style, the building features a stretched machicolation crown and a covered walkway. Its silhouette is heavily splayed at the lower third before expanding outward again at the top, a distinctive shape that has been famously compared to a large hourglass.
