Pidhirtsi Castle is a historic residential fortress located in the village of Pidhirtsi within the Lviv Oblast of western Ukraine, approximately eighty kilometers east of Lviv. Constructed between 1635 and 1640 under the commission of Grand Crown Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski, the structure was designed by architects Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan and Andrea del Aqua. Built on the site of an older fortification, it stands prominently on the northern slope of the Woroniaki hills at an elevation of 399 meters, overlooking the Styr River valley. The castle is renowned as one of the most valuable palace-garden complexes from the eastern borderlands of the former Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and is currently listed on the State Register of Immovable Landmarks of Ukraine.

Architecturally, the castle exemplifies the palazzo in fortezza style, blending residential elegance with military defense. The brick and stone structure forms an open square roughly 100 meters per side with three floors, originally featuring two stories before a third was added in the eighteenth century. Defensive elements include fortified walls with bastions, a moat, a drawbridge, and preserved iron cannons. The complex once boasted extensive grounds with Italian-style parterre gardens, vineyards celebrated in seventeenth-century poetry, a private zoo, an apiary, and a trout pond. A marble plaque above the entrance gate bears a Latin inscription translating to "A crown of military labours is victory, victory is a triumph, triumph is rest," reflecting its martial origins.

Throughout its history, the castle served as a magnificent residence, particularly during the era of Jakub Ludwik Sobieski when it housed rich furnishings, grand halls, and a significant library. The western wing functioned as an official residency for guests, while the eastern wing remained private for the owner and staff. Today, Pidhirtsi Castle is part of the Lviv National Art Gallery. Although it has faced periods of decline, it remains a significant cultural landmark that preserves the architectural and historical legacy of the region's noble past.
