Pejačević Castle in Virovitica

Pejačević Castle is a refined classical manor house located in the center of Virovitica, within the Slavonia region of Croatia. Constructed between 1800 and 1804 by Count Antun Pejačević, the building serves as a prominent example of the architectural heritage owned by the influential Pejačević noble family. The estate itself was originally acquired by the family in 1750 as a grant from Empress Maria Theresa, starting as a modest holding before evolving into the significant property seen today. The structure features three wings arranged in a straight formation, with an internal layout organized around a central hallway. Its design is highlighted by a grand hall and a central dome that emphasize the building's main axis, showcasing the elegance typical of the era's aristocratic residences.
