Guia Fortress, often confused with Monte da Guia Castle, is a historic 17th-century colonial military complex located on Guia Hill in the São Lázaro district of Macau, China. Constructed between 1622 and 1638, the site features a fort, a chapel, and a lighthouse, representing a unique blend of Portuguese military architecture and religious art. The fortification played a critical historical role during the 1622 Battle of Macau, providing a strategic firing position that helped repel a Dutch invasion attempt. As part of the Historic Centre of Macau, the entire complex is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its significance in the cultural exchange between East and West.

The complex includes the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia, built around 1622, which houses rare frescoes discovered in 1998 that depict both Western and Chinese artistic themes. The site also contains the Guia Lighthouse, constructed between 1864 and 1865. Distinguished as the first Western-style lighthouse on the China coast and in Southeast Asia, the concrete-clad stone tower stands 13.5 meters tall with a distinctive white exterior and red lantern roof. Originally serving as a vital navigational aid with a range of roughly 16 nautical miles, the structure remains an iconic landmark situated at the highest point of the Macau peninsula.

Today, the fortress serves as a popular tourist destination, though its visual integrity faces modern challenges. Since 2010, the view of the historic site has been partially obstructed by the construction of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, a high-rise building that sparked significant controversy. Local citizens and scholars criticized the development as a failure of urban planning to respect heritage conservation laws. This conflict led to warnings from UNESCO and subsequent government regulations regarding building heights near the site, highlighting the ongoing tension between preserving historical landscapes and accommodating contemporary urban development in Macau.
