# Layton Castle

The initial raised Louisiana cottage, built in 1814 by Judge Henry Bry, was later subsumed into what is now called Layton Castle, in 1910, by his grand daughter-in-law, Eugenia Stubbs Layton Wright. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Layton Castle is built of red brick, most of it created on the property, and features a crenellated turret, and an immense porte-cochère. In the 1930s, parts of the house were divided into apartments and remain so today. Descendants of the original family live on the large second floor.
