Krumperk Castle is a historic fortress situated in Gorjuša near the town of Domžale in central Slovenia. Originally constructed in the late 13th century by the noble Rabensberg family, the structure known today was rebuilt in 1580 by the prominent Rauber family in the Renaissance architectural style. Throughout its history, the castle served as the seat of a significant lordship that included several surrounding settlements. It passed through various notable owners, including the Rasp family and the counts of Thurn und Valsássina, before being acquired by the Rechbach barons in the 19th century. The estate holds particular historical interest as the ancestral home connected to the famous historian Johann Weikhard von Valvasor through his mother, who was the daughter of the last Baron Rauber.

Following World War II, the castle was nationalized by communist authorities, stripped of its original furnishings, and repurposed as a sanatorium for wounded military officers. In 1953, ownership transferred to the Municipality of Domžale, which converted the interior into apartment housing. By 1985, the property was partitioned; while the surrounding lands became an equestrian center managed by the University of Ljubljana, the castle building itself fell into a fairly poor state of repair. Currently, the site is subject to denationalization proceedings. Despite its deteriorated condition, the location remains culturally active, hosting the Krumperk Equestrian Club on its meadows and standing near local karst caves and a spelunkers' club. Tales of its past have been preserved in local literature, ensuring its legacy endures despite physical neglect.
