Huis Doorn is a historic manor house and national museum located in the town of Doorn within the Utrecht province of the Netherlands. While the original structure dates back to the 13th century, the building underwent significant transformations over the centuries. After being destroyed and subsequently rebuilt in the 14th century, it was reconstructed again in the 19th century to achieve its present-day architectural form. The surrounding gardens were also designed during this later period, contributing to the estate's current aesthetic. Today, the property is recognized as a national heritage site, preserving centuries of Dutch architectural evolution.

The castle holds profound historical significance as the final residence of former German Emperor Wilhelm II. Following World War I, Wilhelm purchased the house and lived there in exile from 1920 until his death in 1941. During the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, the property was seized by the Dutch government as enemy asset. Despite these turbulent times, the interior of the house remains remarkably preserved, maintaining the early 20th-century decor exactly as it was when the Emperor lived there. He is buried in a mausoleum situated within the estate's gardens, which continues to be a site of remembrance.

Currently operating as a historic house museum, Huis Doorn attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually, including German monarchists who gather every June to pay their respects to the late Emperor. The museum offers a unique glimpse into the life of royalty in exile, with untouched rooms that reflect the era of Wilhelm's residence. As a protected monument, the site ensures that both the building and its extensive grounds are maintained for public education and historical appreciation. It stands as a tangible link between Dutch history and the final chapter of the German Imperial legacy.
