Furg Citadel, also known as Mirza Rafi Khan Castle, is an 18th-century fortress situated in Furg Village within Darmian County, South Khorasan province, Iran. Perched on the northern edge of the village at an altitude of 1,840 meters, the structure overlooks the Darmian Valley and extends toward the Asadiyeh plain. Constructed during the Afsharid era by Meerza Muhammad Rafiee Darmiany, the citadel spans approximately 9,200 square meters in an east-west orientation. Its strategic placement on the heights provided historical defensive advantages while overseeing the surrounding agricultural and trade routes of the region.

The architectural complex is divided into three primary sections, each serving distinct functional roles. The eastern sector originally housed staff quarters, cattle barns, and warehouse facilities alongside guard towers and water storage systems. The central area features a prominent brick tower decorated with cruciform and lozenge patterns, which once served as an armory and barracks located about 50 meters from the storage zones. This blend of military and domestic infrastructure highlights the site's role as a self-sufficient settlement hub. The design reflects traditional Persian fortification styles adapted to the local mountainous terrain and available materials.

Historically significant as a symbol of regional power, the citadel was officially registered on Iran's List of National Works on March 18, 2001. The name Furg itself carries diverse etymological theories, ranging from derivations of ancient Iranian family names to linguistic shifts from the word pour, meaning son. Today, the site exists under mixed public and private ownership with only partial access granted to visitors. While specific details regarding its current preservation status are limited, the fortress remains a key cultural landmark representing the rich heritage of the Ghohestan territory and the historical depth of South Khorasan.
