Fort Abbas

Fort Abbas is a town located in the Bahawalnagar District of Punjab, Pakistan, situated within the Cholistan Desert near the border with India. Originally known as Pholra or Phoulra Fort, the settlement was renamed in 1927 by Nawab Sir Sadiq in honor of his eldest son, Muhammad Abbas. Geographically, it lies south of Haroonabad and close to Faqirwali, serving as a significant populated place in southern Punjab. The area has experienced substantial demographic growth over the last century, with its population rising from approximately 11,687 residents in 1972 to 83,192 according to the 2023 national census.
