Feodosia

Feodosia, historically known as Caffa or Kefe, is a port city located on the Crimean coast of the Black Sea. Serving as the administrative center of Feodosia Municipality, the city occupies a strategic position that has made it a focal point of regional history for centuries. While currently under the de facto administration of Russia, it remains internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. The city's origins date back to ancient Greek colonization in the 6th century BCE, but its most transformative era began in the 13th century when it became a major Genoese trading colony. During this period, the settlement flourished as a crucial hub for commerce between Europe and Asia, necessitating the construction of massive defensive structures that still define its skyline today.

The architectural heritage of Feodosia is dominated by the impressive Genoese fortress of Caffa, built primarily during the 14th and 15th centuries. This complex features robust stone walls, watchtowers such as the Krisco and Clement towers, and reflects medieval military engineering designed to protect valuable trade routes.
