Château Neercanne is a historic fine dining establishment located just north of the Belgian village of Kanne and south of Maastricht in the Netherlands. Although situated near the border, the property remains on Dutch territory at Von Dopfflaan 10. The site possesses deep historical roots, having originally been utilized by the Roman Empire. The location features ancient caves created by mining marl blocks for fortifications, which have been repurposed and currently serve as the restaurant's extensive wine cellar. The original castle structure was destroyed in 1465 by forces from Liège during the Liège Wars, marking a significant event in its turbulent past.

The current architectural ensemble reflects a blend of historical periods, with outbuildings and a prominent corner tower constructed in 1611 in the distinctive Mosan style. The main building was erected in 1698 by Daniël Wolf van Dopff, who served as the military governor of Maastricht and lord of Neercanne at the time. All existing structures are built from local marl stone, giving the estate its characteristic appearance. This architectural heritage provides a unique setting that bridges centuries of regional history, from Roman excavation to early modern reconstruction.

Today, Château Neercanne operates as a renowned French fine dining restaurant with a seating capacity of sixty guests. It holds a distinguished culinary reputation, having been awarded one or two Michelin stars during two separate periods spanning from 1957 to 1982 and again from 1986 to 2018. In 2013, the guide GaultMillau recognized the establishment with a score of 16.0 points. Over the decades, the kitchen has been led by notable head chefs such as Theo Koch and Ber Stassen, with Robert Levels serving as the current chef de cuisine, continuing the tradition of high-quality gastronomy within this historic castle.
