Château de Warfusée

The Château de Warfusée is a distinguished historical estate situated in the municipality of Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse within the Wallonia region of Belgium, near the city of Liège. Completed in 1754, this architectural gem was constructed to replace an earlier Renaissance structure that previously occupied the site. The design features a main building flanked by two lower wings that define a vast courtyard, with access granted through a gate located beneath a tower topped with a steeple. Recognized as part of Wallonia's Major Heritage, the castle stands as one of the most beautiful examples of its kind in the local area, showcasing the grandeur of mid-18th-century construction.

Historically, the property holds significant importance as it served as a summer residence for Charles-Nicolas d'Oultremont, who held the title of Prince-Bishop of Liège between 1763 and 1771. He was the brother of the castle's proprietor at the time, linking the site directly to the region's ecclesiastical and noble history. To this day, the château remains the primary residence of the Earls of d'Outremont, maintaining a continuous connection to its original aristocratic lineage. This enduring ownership has helped preserve the integrity and legacy of the estate through centuries of social and political change in Belgium.

The interior of the Château de Warfusée is particularly exceptional, having remained largely unchanged since its completion.
