Akluj Fort is a historic hill fort situated in the Solapur district of Maharashtra, India, approximately 115 kilometers from Solapur city and located on the banks of the Nira River. Constructed in the 13th century by the Yadav king Raja Singhan, the structure stands at an elevation of 1,598 feet and is primarily built from stone. Although the fort suffered significant destruction during early wars, leading to gaps in its medieval historical record, it remains in good condition today. It is currently owned by the Government of India and is open to the public daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Recent restoration efforts led by Shree Dinkarrao Thopte and Avinash Thopte, with support from local residents, have helped preserve the site, which is now also referred to as Shivshrushti.

The fortress holds substantial historical significance due to its rule by various dynasties, including the Bahamani, Adilshahi, Mughals, and Marathas. During the Mughal era, it was known as Asadnagar or Asadpur. A pivotal moment in its history occurred when Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was captured at Sangameshwar and brought here with twenty-six companions by Mukarrab Khan. The fort also hosted Emperor Aurangzeb for several months in late 1688 and early 1689, shortly after Sambhaji's capture. Later records indicate that Peshwa Bajirao II and British Governor Lord Dalhousie also resided within its walls for extended periods following political shifts in the region.
