Vastseliina Castle

Vastseliina Castle was a fortress of the Livonian Order belonging to the Bishopric of Dorpat, constructed by 1342 under Landmeister Burkhard von Dreileben. Located near the village of Vana-Vastseliina in Võru Parish, Võru County, Estonia, the castle served as part of Old Livonia's border fortification system. It was strategically built to defend against military threats from neighboring powers including Novgorod, Pskov, and later Moscow during medieval times.

Today, Vastseliina Castle exists as ruins at its original location in southern Estonia. The remnants of this medieval fortress represent an important piece of Estonian heritage and the region's complex history under the rule of the Teutonic Knights.
