Västanå Manor

Västanå Manor is a historic estate located in Gränna parish within Jönköping Municipality, Sweden. While the property's origins likely date back to the 14th century under the ownership of the Ulfsparre family, the current main building was commissioned in the mid-17th century by the prominent statesman Per Brahe the Younger. The structure underwent significant reconstruction between 1767 and 1770 during the tenure of Rutger Bennet, reflecting the evolving architectural needs of its various owners, which later included the Hamilton family. The manor stands as a large, two-story high-rise building, a form it achieved after extensive repairs and modifications conducted between 1928 and 1930 by Rolf Gyllensvaan von Otter, who notably removed the original third floor to create its present appearance.

The site holds considerable historical significance due to its continuous association with influential Swedish nobility and its adaptation over seven centuries. After passing through several families following its sale by the Ulfsparres, the estate found stability in the 20th century under the von Otter family. Today, Västanå Manor serves a vibrant commercial purpose rather than remaining a private residence. Since 1948, it has operated successfully as a hotel, conference center, and restaurant. The facility continues to be managed by members of the von Otter family, ensuring that the legacy of the estate is maintained while providing modern hospitality services to visitors in the Jönköping region.
