Tresivio

Tresivio is a small municipality located in the Province of Sondrio within the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Situated approximately 100 kilometers northeast of Milan and just six kilometers east of the provincial capital, Sondrio, the town rests at an elevation of 520 meters. Covering an area of 15 square kilometers, Tresivio includes the subdivisions of Acqua and Centro and shares borders with Montagna in Valtellina, Piateda, Poggiridenti, and Ponte in Valtellina. As of late 2004, the community supported a population of roughly 2,000 residents, known demographically as Tresiviaschi or Tresiviesi, reflecting a stable demographic presence that has fluctuated moderately since the mid-19th century.

The town is historically and architecturally defined by its prominent Roman Catholic sanctuary dedicated to the Black Madonna. Constructed during the 17th century, this significant religious edifice was modeled after the famous Basilica della Santa Casa in Loreto.
