Stobnica Castle

Stobnica Castle is a large residential complex currently under construction in the village of Stobnica, located within the Greater Poland Voivodeship of Poland. Construction on the site began in 2015 under the direction of architect Waldemar Szeszuła. Although designed to resemble a traditional medieval fortress, the structure is a contemporary example of Revivalist architecture rather than a genuine historical monument. The project aims to serve as a private residence that also incorporates a hotel complex, blending modern living amenities with the aesthetic grandeur of historical European castles.

The development has garnered significant attention and controversy since its existence became public knowledge in 2018. Critics have raised serious concerns regarding the building's placement on the edge of the Noteć Forest and within a Natura 2000 protected area, sparking debates about environmental impact and zoning regulations. Despite these challenges and ongoing legal or public scrutiny, work on the exterior continued, with reports from 2022 indicating that the outer facade was nearing completion. However, as of 2024, the entire project remains officially listed as under construction.

While the interior and final phases of the build are not yet finished, the site has partially opened to the public. Since 2023, visitors have been able to access a dedicated educational path around the grounds, allowing them to observe the unique architectural undertaking up close. This feature provides an early glimpse into one of Poland's most discussed modern building projects, offering insight into how revivalist designs are being implemented in the twenty-first century despite ecological controversies.
