Salsomaggiore Terme is a historic town and comune situated in the province of Parma within the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Nestled at the foot of the Apennine Mountains, this location has been renowned since the first half of the 19th century for its therapeutic saline waters. During the reign of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, the town emerged as a premier spa destination, drawing visitors to its hypertonic, cold bromo-iodine waters extracted from artesian wells reaching depths of up to 1,200 meters. The high mineral density of these springs established the area as a center for health and wellness, fundamentally shaping its identity and economy.
