Ruino

Ruino is not a castle but a small municipality located in the Province of Pavia within the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Situated approximately 60 kilometers south of Milan and 30 kilometers southeast of Pavia, this commune rests at an elevation of 541 meters. The administrative center and main village is Pometo, which serves as the municipal seat. While often mistaken for a singular historic fortress due to its medieval-sounding name, Ruino is actually a collection of several small hamlets, including Ca del Matto, Montù Berchielli, and Torre degli Alberi, spread across a total area of roughly 21 square kilometers.

The historical significance of the area is tied to its traditional rural economy rather than a specific monumental structure. The village of Pometo, with a population of around 200 residents, has maintained a longstanding reputation for artisanal bread production, hosting multiple bakeries that serve the local community.
