Rivieren Castle (''Kasteel van Rivieren'')
Rivieren Castle, known locally as Château de Rivieren or Kasteel ter Rivieren, is a historic fortress located in Ganshoren, a municipality within the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. Originally constructed as a defensive tower in the 12th century, the structure evolved through various building phases spanning from the medieval period up to the 19th century. The castle is uniquely situated within the expansive 10-hectare Albert Park and remains surrounded by a large pond, which serves as a surviving vestige of its original extensive medieval moat system. Today, it stands intact and holds the distinction of being the only remaining medieval-style castle in the entire Brussels region.
The property possesses a rich lineage of ownership, initially belonging to the prominent Clutinck family before changing hands numerous times throughout the centuries. This long history culminated in its sale in 1973, marking a new chapter for the estate.
