Madhogarh Fort

Fort Madhogarh is a historic fortress situated in Madhogarh Village, approximately 42 kilometers from Jaipur, Rajasthan, off the Jaipur-Agra highway. Constructed roughly 400 years ago by Madho Singh of the Kachhwaha Rajput clan, the fort exemplifies traditional Rajput architecture. Its design features a distinctive U-shaped layout enclosing a central courtyard, with arched stone lintels and narrow gun-loops integrated into the walls for defensive purposes. Key internal structures include the Pratap Mahal suite and the Deodhi Phoola Mahal, which are arranged around the courtyard to maximize both utility and grandeur.

The site holds significant historical value, most notably for its connection to the 1787 Battle of Tunga, a major conflict between the Kingdom of Jaipur and the Maratha Empire led by Mahadaji Scindia. The fort overlooks the historic battlefield and a nearby village inhabited by local artisan communities. Originally a military stronghold, the estate was later granted as a hereditary property to Thakur Pratap Singh of the Bhati clan by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II following a marital alliance between the families. This transfer cemented the fort's status as a prized possession of the Bhati lineage for generations.

In the year 2000, the descendants of Thakur Bhawani Singh transformed the ancient structure into a heritage hotel, preserving its cultural legacy while adapting it for modern hospitality. Today, Fort Madhogarh offers 51 rooms and suites, blending restored chambers within the original fort walls with new pavilion suites in recently constructed wings. Guests can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and hill-facing accommodations that highlight the site's scenic beauty. This conversion has allowed the fort to remain a vibrant landmark, serving as both a functional hotel and a monument to Rajasthan's rich martial and architectural history.
