Castello di Arco

Arco Castle, known locally as Castello di Arco, is a historic ruined fortress situated on a dramatic rocky spur overlooking the town of Arco and the Sarca Valley in the Trentino region of northern Italy. While the precise date of its foundation remains unknown, historical records confirm its existence shortly after the year 1000 AD. The structure was reportedly constructed by local citizens before eventually becoming the seat of the noble Counts of Arco. Its strategic position made it a focal point of regional power struggles throughout the Middle Ages, involving significant entities such as the Prince-Bishops of Trent, the Scaliger family of Verona, and the expanding House of Habsburg.
