Rundersburg Castle, known locally as Burg Rundersburg, is a historic ruined fortress located in Sankt Leonhard am Hornerwald within the state of Lower Austria, Austria. Perched strategically above the Fronbach river valley, the structure was originally constructed between 1180 and 1220. This dating is confirmed by the distinctive opus spicatum masonry style found in its remaining walls. The castle's primary historical function was to secure the Polansteig, a vital trade route traversing the region, operating in conjunction with nearby strongholds such as Thurnberg and Idolsberg castles to ensure safe passage for merchants and travelers.

The site first appears in historical records via a deed of gift from 1182 or 1189, which mentions Albero de Ronnenberc as a benefactor of Göttweig Abbey. The original founding family line likely ended with Ortolf von Roneberch in 1293, after which the property reverted to sovereign control. In the modern era, the castle and its surrounding lands were acquired in 1895 by Rudolf Graf Hoyos-Sprinzenstein of the prominent Hoyos family. Today, the ruins remain under the ownership of Bernhard Hoyos, a direct descendant of Rudolf, maintaining a centuries-long connection to the estate.

Currently, Rundersburg Castle exists as a ruin, with only fragments of its former grandeur surviving. While a square residential tower once stood at the center of the complex, presumably built around the mid-13th century, only a single wall of this structure remains today. Despite its dilapidated condition, the site stands as a significant architectural remnant of medieval Lower Austria, offering insight into the region's defensive history and the evolution of castle construction during the high Middle Ages.
